Same sex marriage is not accepted in the Roman Catholic Church- Apostolic Nuncio
By Stephen TADAHA
Same sex marriage has been rejected in the Roman Catholic church. The confirmation was made on Thursday August 15, 2024 by the Apostolic Nuncio to Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea, His Lordship Avellino Bettercourt in a pontifical mass. This was during a pilgrimage made at the Lekot-so sanctuary in Babadjou Subdivision, in the West.
The yearly Pilgrimage was on the sidelines of the Assumption day which celebrates the Assumption of the Virgin Mary by God after her death.
Religious leaders from the Roman Catholic church in the likes of His Lordship Paul Lontsie Keune, Bishop of the Bafoussam Diocese and leaders from other denominations, administrative authorities, political leaders and hundreds of pilgrims, took part.
During the pontifical mass, the pontiff reassured Christians that “the church has totally rebuked same sex marriage celebrations as it goes against the Church’s doctrine”. The man of God also affirmed ” that marriages can be celebrated only between a man and a woman, contrary to what many had been saying in recent time”.
In his homily, the Man of God also condemned any form of violence in recalling that the Virgin Mary who is being celebrated, represents the life of humanity.
The pilgrimage which was at its 3rd edition, rounded up with a courtesy visit at the Babadjou Royal Palace.
