Rwanda lifts visa requirements for African Passports
The President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, announced on Thursday, November 2, 2023, that his country will now welcome every African without asking for a visa at ports of entry.
The Rwandan president who was speaking in the capital, Kigali, regretted that Africa depends on 60% of outsiders to boost its tourism sectors.
Hence the visa-free movement for Africans is for “a unified tourism destination”, adding that “Africans are the future of global tourism as our middle class continues to grow at a fast pace in the decades to come.”
While taking part in the 23rd Global Summit of the World Travel and Tourism Council, Paul Kagame said,
“Any African can get on a plane to Rwanda whenever they wish and they will not pay a thing to enter our country”
This announcement comes barely a week after Kenyan President, William Ruto promised that by the end of 2023, Kenya will lift visa requirements for all Africans.
