Public health workers temporarily suspend announced strike
The public health workers first announced they would be going on strike last August 3rd. The reasons given included lack of health insurance, unpaid bonuses and they demanded a minimum wage of F CFA 75.000 for all temporary workers.
In a release signed on August 16 2022, members of the National Trade Union of Health workers now say they will respect government’s plea for the suspension of their protest.
A six-month suspension earlier proposed by government has been reduced to four pending positive answers to their demands and one of them is better treatment of temporary health workers in public hospitals.
From January to August 2022, health workers’ trade unions have announced and cancelled three protests and suspended all three.
