Government Surrenders To Anglophone Teachers Demand

Anglophone Teachers in Yaoundé have suspended a strike action over unpaid dues. The suspension is as a result of an agreement between the grumbling teachers and the Regional Delegate for Basic Education for the Centre.

In a crisis meeting held Thursday May 18, 2017 in Yaoundé, the regional delegate agreed to pay the sum of FCFA60 for each script marked in the Common entrance.

The teachers had been told they will only receive FCFA 27 per script marked, a situation which sparked an outrage among the teachers.

The marking exercise of the Common entrance will resume this Friday.

Government had initially programmed FCFA 120 per script which was later reduced to FCFA 60.
