Cameroon’s first daughter, Brenda Biya on a Snapchat post which she later deleted on October 16, 2022, revealed that she recently attempted to commit suicide by cutting her wrist.
In the series of pictures she posted on her now-deleted post, she narrated that while on the phone with her mother, Chantal Biya, she overheard her dad, president Paul Biya asking if she was still alive or not.
“Every night I prayed for God to let me die as things were getting too overwhelming for me. But every day I kept waking up and yet still hoped to die. One day while I spoke to my mom on the phone I overheard my dad saying isn’t she dead yet ?”.

Brenda noted in her diary, from where she made the Snapchat screenshots, that she understands she has made a lot of mistakes in the past and has been part of many scandals that have dragged her family into the mire.
She ended by stating that by the time everyone gets to read the message she should have already been dead.
The outburst sparked a lot of controversy as many wondered if Brenda Biya was going through any mental trauma. This is however not the first time she has made multiple attempts to end her own life.
In other occasions, she filmed a disturbing scene where she is seen dragging things with her bodyguard at the Unity Palace where she said, she had been held in isolation.
