Police Intercepts Five Suspected Human Bone Traffickers.
Elements of the anti-criminal unit of the Bonanjo Judicial Police in Douala have intercepted five suspected human bone traffickers in Bonaberi-DoualaIV4 sub-division. According to Francis Nlate, assistant head of the anti-criminal unit, the bones from the North West region were intended to be sold in Douala:
“The suspects are from the North West region and were in possession of human bones without the skulls. They smuggled the bones into the city of Douala for sale. We were alerted of this by an informant. So we immediately deployed our men to Bonaberi where the suspects were apprehended. The bones were contained in a bag without the skull. We are still investigating.”
During the operation to apprehend them, one of them managed to escape.
“They were six in number. Our men succeeded to arrest five. Unfortunately, one is on the run. We won’t stop investigating untill he is arrested” Francis Nlte further explained.
According to the Assistant Head of the Anti-criminal Unit, the suspects will be presented to the court to answer to accusations of human bone trafficking. Francis Nlate pleaded with the population to continue collaborating with forces of law and order.
This criminal act has been recurrent in Cameroon and despite the fact that suspects are often denounced and arrested, many youths still venture in order to get rich.
