Cameroon’s Prime Minister, Joseph Dion Ngute is in Kigali, Rwanda for the 2022 Commonwealth heads of government meeting.

on Friday, June 24, 2022, PM Ngute took part in an executive meeting of heads of government. He also met with the Commonwealth Secretary-General, Patricia Scotland.

“The official opening of CHOGM takes place on Friday 24 June and is followed by the main high-level meetings of Heads on Friday 24 to Saturday 25 June. They are proceeded by four Forums, ministerial meetings, side events, and other activities.”

The Commonwealth meeting was postponed twice in 2020 due to the outbreak of Coronavirus.

The meeting comes weeks after the UK announced that she had entered a deal to repatriate asylum seekers to Rwanda, but the first flight was canceled by the European Court of human rights.

Commonwealth representatives are expected to reaffirm their common values and agree on actions and policies to improve the lives of all their citizens. Decisions taken at CHOGM also guide the work program of the Commonwealth Secretariat.
