Parliamentarian who ‘escaped’ from captivity thanks Paul Biya

BAMENDA-This was part of his ‘thank you speech’ and message to the public after he and two others, miraculously ‘escaped’ from separatist captivity in Momo division, North West Cameroon.
Hon. Ujambeng Stephen Andong, the section president for the ruling Cameroon Peoples Democratic Movement, CPDM, Momo 4, said they escaped from captivity after spending one month and three weeks.
Flanked by co-captives and military officers, the man who led a delegation to the Division for May 20 parade, said, “We were arrested after the section conference held on 19 May and followed up on May 20 celebrations…it has not been a bed of roses, I want to start by thanking God almighty for being alive up to this moment”
He noted that July 4th was supposed to be the last day for their execution but they alerted the Divi
“I also want to use this opportunity to thank the Head of State, President Paul Biya, father of our nation, for his steadfast love for the people of Cameroon…But the Head of State still pardons people and we ourselves who are Elites of this country got tortured like this by our own brothers, ” he lamented.
“We have desecrated the land, spilling blood here and there.” The member of Parliament said.
One person commented, “Hon. MP you are very skilled at the arts. We thank the head of state”
He did not disclose how they escaped from armed men who had been changing their locations since their kidnap on May 21, 2023.
The member of the North West Regional Assembly only said they alerted the Divisional Officer and military that they were going to take an important decision to escape from captivity.
Other opinions hold that there was a negotiation and an agreement arrived between the separatists and the captives with money exchanging hands, this has been the case with other kidnap incidents.

We know the kind of people we are talking about here, using the statement “escaped” might not be the truth. But one important thing I have noticed as far as this crisis is concerned, many of our so-called political leaders know exactly what is happening but lies have become their daily national anthem. But hear this, no matter how lies run one day, the truth will overcome them. I thank God for your lives”
