Painful European exit for Andre Onana and United

Manchester United were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League by Bayern in a 1-0 defeat on Tuesday, but errors from past matches made it more painful.

Erik Ten Hag looked back at their first matches of the group stage, pointing out that they were within reach. “We didn’t lose today in the Champions League. We lost it before. We have to acknowledge that” the coach said.

Out of six matches, United won just one against Copenhagen, drawing another and conceding four defeats.

The 4-3 loss in the second leg against Copenhagen on November 8, turned out to be very decisive. The Danish club finished second in Group A, following a 1-0 win over Galatasaray.

Manchester United’s exit was confirmed as Kingsley Coman scored the lone and winning goal of the encounter at Old Trafford. United finished last in Group A.

Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana, has been slammed by several fans who say his goalkeeping was poor. Many feel he remained rooted to his line instead of closing down on Coman to prevent the goal.

The Reds who also miss out on the Europa League, will now focus on the Premier League. “We have to accept it and learn” Erik Ten Hag said.
