Over $10M cash, 350 luxury cars from Bongo family to be distributed by military

Gabon’s military government has recently announced they will invest $12M and distribute hundreds of luxury cars. They say this is part of the ill-gotten wealth confiscated from family and friends of former President Ali Bongo.

The Observer reported that transitional President, General Brice Oligui Nguema, has begun consultations to determine how best to use the items recovered from state officials and business executives.

They further stated that Gabon’s Prime Minister Reymond Ndong Sima said on Gabon’s state TV on Monday that the Junta has recovered about 411.6 million and close to 350 luxury vehicles over the past 45 days.

The new Gabonese government says the money will be used to provide public social amenities such as water, electricity and education.

Accoding to VOA news, Nguema said the 344 vehicles his government recovered from current and past senior state officials and partners of former President Bongo should be distributed to government institutions, especially schools, universities, hospitals, and water and electricity companies that need them to improve the living conditions of citizens.
