Outcry in Buea as Gendarme Kills Three Year Old Girl
The 3-year-old pupil was shot dead by a Government force in Molyko on Thursday, October 14, 2021. CNA correspondent said the incident occurred around the Cathedral in Molyko along the road to Bwitingi.
The man, Mvogo Achille Rigobert, in a Gendarmerie outfit serving with the National Gendarmerie is said to have stopped a private car driven by a lady accompanying her kids to school. A few seconds after, he fired shots at the car killing one pupil on the spot. The angry population has seized and stoned him to death.
His colleague with whom they were together escaped.
Angry youths paraded the corpse of the three-year-old girl, Ndialle Caroline. The irate population marched to Clerks Quarter where gunshots were fired to disperse the protesters. But they kept on until the Governor’s office.
“Chanting 500…500…500”, meaning the Gendarme shot at the car because the driver refused to pay him FCFA 500, they urged the Governor to render justice to the family of the deceased.
Bernard Okalia Bialia said that nothing justifies the act of the Gendarme. He promised that sanctions will be taken but pleaded on the population to take the corpse to the mortuary.
Arrests have been made in Buea- but the protesters marched to the Legion office to demand the release of those arrested. The protesters who went to the Governor’s office were disappointed after Mr. Okalia said nothing concrete.
Ambazonia separatist fighters fired gunshots around the Government Technical High School Molyko, sending students packing their bags home.
The Ambazonia fighters have said that they have banned circulation between Buea and Kumba for the rest of Friday, October 15, 2021.
“This should be a clear message to those politicians using Buea for their political gains. The fact that Buea has been silent does not mean that we are not going through pain. We just want to live in peace, sell our goods and carry out our activities. That does not mean that any group or persons should provoke our patience” Divine, a denizen in Buea tells CNA as Buea boils in anger after a Gendarme officer killed a three-year-old girl while in her mother’s car on her way to school.
