Onana scandal: Cameroonians demand the truth as Coach Song threatens to take legal actions
“I might launch legal proceedings against the author of the video,” Indomitable Lions head coach Rigobert Song Bahanag made the declaration in a post on his social media platforms on December 8 2022 few hours after a video of him and his brother in a conversation over the Andre Onana issue went viral.
He has condemned what he terms violation of his privacy by the person who filmed and shared his conversation without authorisation:
“It is clear this video was to harm me… and my intimacy and honor as coach on a decision I took for the benefit of the group have been violated”.
Song says the video was taken in his house by someone who came with his brother on December 7 2022 to visit. Meanwhile, some football lovers have expressed anger over what they saw in the video. “Cameroonians want clear explanation but you choose to share with your brother… Only idiots can believe it is sabotage,” Messina Elise opinionates. Others like Cyril Romeo Suffo still wait for the version of the coach on what is now considered the “Onana scandal”. “It is time to let Cameroonians know the whole truth. The world cup is over… Let Cameroonians know the truth,” another fan says.
The national team coach has condemned the act and declared he might sue the author of the video. Though some Cameroonians like Nembot Jack Michael are rather critical of the communication within the football federation:
Iit is a catastrophy. Everyone writes and says what he wants and it is made public. Even 2-year-old children are more organized”.
André Onana on his part has raised brows after he tweeted on truth speaking “In a world where lying is the most common thing, telling the truth makes you a revolutionary but in the end, time will put everything in its place”.Â
Amidst the confusion, several Cameroonians have requested a complete version of what happened in Qatar from the head coach.
