October12’25: Kah Walla accuses Interior Minister of inciting chaos in Cameroon through election manipulation

The president of the Cameroon People’s Party and Coordinator of Stand Up for Cameroon, Edith Kah Walla, a one-time presidential candidate, has accused Minister of Territorial Administration Paul Atanga Nji of creating chaos and infiltrating opposition parties in Cameroon.

Elections in Cameroon will continue to be rigged unless drastic changes are made through a transitional rule, she said in a statement on July 27.

This came a day after the Election Management Body, ELECAM, disqualified 70 presidential election aspirants, including the 2018 main challenger, Maurice Kamto.

Walla says the Interior Minister has spent time manipulating and controlling ELECAM, creating fear for possible withdrawals.

She calls for a transitional political process in Cameroon that will include a sincere national reconciliation, solve the crisis, rebuild the state, credible electoral code, among others.

Kah Walla had, in a press conference, rubbished the elections after displaying minors being registered in the far north region. Cameroon’s electoral code says the voter must be at least 20 years but minors were in their teenage years or even less.
