By Nchendzengang Tatah

The President of the Cameroon Bar Association, Mbah Eric Mbah, assured of his institution’s resolve to accompany the electoral process before, during, and after the October Presidential Elections.

Mbah Eric was speaking on July 3, 2025, in Buea on the sidelines of a visit. He said, as formerly, the Bar was determined to make available its resources to accompany the process.

“The last time I think, it was presidential or which elections I can’t remember, but we wrote to the Ministry of Territorial Administration. They said, “No”, they have enough personnel and all of that,” Mbah Eric stated.

He insisted that The Bar was “ready” to accompany the development, which was critical in the Cameroon political landscape.

“The bar is always ready to accompany any endeavour that will help the country move ahead. It is our pride. So, at the appropriate moment, we will write to the competing authorities, pledging our availability to assist the government in any service that may be required,” he went on to say.

Batonnier Mbah Eric said that if that mode was not welcomed, they would continue to accompany the electoral process through pre- and post-election disputes.

Elections into the General Assembly and Bar Council of the Cameroon Bar Association are due to take place on July 14 in Yaounde. Mbah Eric is seeking reelection. While Presidential Elections are expected to be held in October. Paul Biya, the incumbent, is expected to run. Many have, over the years, continued to express doubts about the integrity of the elections regulatory body, ELECAM.
