Noun: Farmer on knees as rearers let Cows into farmland

A farmer in Magba, a locality in Noun, West region of Cameroon, has said his 10 hectares of palm plantation is being reduced to ground level by Cows.

“This is a palm plantation of over 10 hectares being destroyed by a foreigner who came in from Nigeria with his cattle and destroyed people’s properties and nothing is done.”

he went further to accuse Cattle rearers of destroying their fences to allow Cows to feed on their farms,” Imagine the Fulani men breaking down fences and destroying crops in the farm and the court has been adjoining the matter for almost a year now,”

In one of his speeches to the youths, President Paul Biya encouraged them to embark on agricultural journies for livelihood but this farmer wonders how this can be done when Cows are not controlled by owners.

“Imagine the vision and future of the poor youth trying to help himself…

The Cows are said to belong to a certain Mohammadou Outta. The farmer revealed that he first took the case to the Divisional Officer in February 2023, before reaching out to a court in Foumban in June 2023.

Nsakame Edwin is hopeful that the court will pass an order for the owner to prevent his Cows from eating his palm trees. But as the court case is delayed, the farm is getting cleared up by hungry Cows feeding fat on the crops.
