North West Media Forum 2025: CAMASEJ Bamenda sets stage for stronger, resilient media

The Cameroon Association of English-Speaking Journalists, CAMASEJ Bamenda, has officially presented the upcoming North West Media Forum during a press conference held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at its Secretariat in Miss Ngen Junction, Bamenda.

The briefing, presided over by CAMASEJ Bamenda Chapter President, Sah Terence, brought together journalists and media stakeholders to outline the goals and significance of the forum, which is expected to serve as a turning point for media practice in the region.

Speaking at the press conference, Sah Terence emphasized that the forum seeks to tackle long-standing challenges faced by journalists in the North West, particularly poor working conditions, increasing threats to press freedom, and the need to strengthen professional standards in a conflict-affected context.

He underlined the importance of fostering dialogue among journalists, stakeholders, and the wider community to safeguard the independence of the press and create a conducive environment for responsible journalism.

The CAMASEJ Bamenda President further highlighted that the forum will also serve as a platform to explore avenues for social security and collective support systems for media practitioners.

Sah called on journalists and partners to actively engage in the process, stressing that the forum represents a crucial step toward building a more resilient, secure, and professional media landscape in the region.

The North West Media Forum will take place on September 25 and 26, 2025 in Bamenda. The event will also feature the CAMASEJ Bamenda Awards, where journalists will be recognized for outstanding reporting in various domains including health, economic and entrepreneurship journalism, solutions journalism, technology, reporting on non-communicable diseases, and more.
