Members of the Cameroon Youth National Council, CYNC North West bureau have called on youths in the region to keep fear away, brave the odds and show patriotism by taking part in the activities of the national youth day celebration on February 11, 2023.
The call was made on February 4 by the president of the Mezam divisional bureau of the Youth Council, Ndifon Peterson at the closing ceremony of a two day entrepreneurship seminar in Bamenda.
Speaking on behalf of the president of the regional bureau who was unavoidably absent, Ndifon said the aim of the training seminar was to bring the youths together and get their minds ready on activities of the day:
“It’s their civic responsibility. We realized that it is fear that makes most of the youths stay at home. They should come out to celebrate and take over their day. All the youths from nursery, primary, secondary and higher education should be there”.
The vice president of the North West Youth Council, Ndum Charlotte on her part reminded the youths that they should forget about the political agenda behind the day, and come out to celebrate because it is a day meant for the youths:
“This is not a political agenda to show the world or whosoever that everything is fine in the region, of course not. However this is the National Youth Day. A day for the youths. It’s our day and we have to celebrate it, show those who govern us that we are around and remind them to do better by us”.
They also revealed that there are a lot of projects, which shall be beneficial to all the youths in the region in the days ahead.
“The entire executive bureau is currently working to secure more opportunities for the youths of this region and even as we speak the regional president is on a mission for the interest of the youths,” the vice president added.
The projects mentioned include the training of some youths across the region on barbing, hairdressing, tailoring and others.
While calling on the youths give them total support, the new executive bureau also revealed that they are knocking at the most important doors and the future is bright, despite the socio-political situation of the region.
