North West: British High Commissioner inaugurates first IELTS exam centre

The British High Commissioner to Cameroon, H.E Matt Woods has launched the first IELTS exam centre in Bamenda.
The centre called, Make It For Africa, MIFA, will henceforth accommodate students who are taking the International English Language Testing System, IELTS exam.
The British Council inaugurated and officially recognised the exam centre recently in the presence of the Director of MIFA, Eunice Tata.
MIFA becomes the lone British Council-recognised centre in the North West, South West, and West regions. It also becomes the third centre in Cameroon, after Yaounde, and Douala.
Speaking after the event, Woods called on students to get in touch with the centre, which is located at Old Treasury Street, Commercial Avenue in Bamenda. He added that there is no need to travel to Yaounde and Douala for the exams anymore.
“This will help students who are taking the IELTS exams and they don’t have to travel to Yaounde and Douala,” Woods said.
On her part, Eunice Tata revealed that the centre is fully equipped and students can register, do preparatory classes, and write and collect their results at the centre.
IELTS is a globally recognised standardized test of English language proficiency, designed to assess the ability of non-native English speakers. It is mostly demanded for admission to universities in Europe, the UK, and the USA.
