North West: Authorities, population denounce killing of people
Authorities of the North West region together with the population have denounce the killing of civilians in the region.
They came out Thursday July 20, 2023 at the Bamenda commercial avenue grandstand, condemning the recent killing of 10 persons in Nacho/ Abangoh by suspected separatist fighters.
The outing was led by the Bamenda City council Mayor, Paul Achobong and the president of the North West House of Chiefs, Fon Yakum Kevin of Bambalang and some council officials.
At the Commercial Avenue grandstand, Mayor Achobong told the population who came out that enough is enough to all the killings in the region.
“The killings must stop. We need collective efforts for all of us to fight this situation,”
The authorities were accompanied by some traditional rulers including the Fon of Nkwen.
According to Fon Yakum, the government must make sure that the crisis stops and all those who are terrorizing the town should be arrested and punished.
Accompanied by security forces, the delegation went to the scene at Abangoh, where 10 persons were killed on Sunday July 16 and two others wounded.
They called on the population and bereaved families to give give the government some time to track down perpetrators of the act.
On Sunday July 16, eight persons were pulled out of their homes in Ntahsah quarter and shot to death at a popular junction in the locality. The government of Cameroon through the ministry of defence later on said they were killed by separatist fighters.
