Nkar Residents Confront Separatist Fighters After Months of Kidnappings

Residents of Nkar in Bui Division staged a rare march on Tuesday to the camp of separatist fighters led by “General Capo,” after months of rising tension marked by kidnappings, ransom demands, and roadblocks that have severely restricted movement in the community.

Neighbouring villages, including Mantum, Kinsenjam, Bamti, Kuvluh, Kikaikilaki and Maah, face similar conditions, fueling growing frustration across the area.

According to local accounts, the Nkar delegation was stopped at the entrance of the camp, where a tense exchange unfolded. General Capo warned the villagers not to advance and questioned whether they had come for conflict or dialogue. The residents responded that they were seeking dialogue. He also asked whether they had ever seen him harm civilians, to which the crowd replied no.

The confrontation highlighted the deep strain between the civilian population and armed groups operating in the area, as communities continue to call for relief and a return to normal life.
