Inhabitants of Nkambe municipality in Donga-Mantung Division, North West region, came out on Saturday, June 7, 2025, to witness a significant achievement in their community’s development, as Mayor Shey Musa Nfor presented a brand-new, modern waste collector truck.
The initiative, the council says, symbolises his commitment to improving sanitation and living conditions for the residents of Nkambe. The crowd came out to cheer the Mayor as he proudly stood behind the truck, beaming with joy.
This achievement is a testament to the council’s hard work and dedication to enhancing the municipality’s infrastructure, they noted. The newly acquired truck is reportedly the first of its kind by a council in the entire North West region, and it is expected to improve sanitation services in Nkambe.
According to the Mayor, the acquisition of the modern waste truck is a significant step towards achieving the council’s vision for a cleaner and healthier Nkambe.
During the ceremony, officials of the council said, the prize earned from emerging second nationwide in the 2024 Clean City Contest contributed significantly to the purchase of the truck.
The council’s plans for the future are ambitious, with officials announcing the construction of a modern waste transformation system and setting up neighborhood sanitation units. These initiatives, they say, aim to expand sanitation services and set a record of transformative culture in the municipality.
