Nigerian musician Portable could face imprisonment for assault

The “Zazoo” crooner Badmus Habeeb Okikiola popularly known as Portable, is facing charges of assault in a court proceeding, that could see him imprisoned for up to two years.

He appeared before the Ogun State High Court on Monday, but pleaded not guilty to all charges levied against him.

It all began when videos of the musician confronting and physically fighting some men of the Nigeria Police surfaced on the internet. He is reported to have earlier beaten a man known as Manny Monie, his apprentice, who filed a complaint against him, bringing the attention of the Police. Portable subsequently resisted arrest.

In court he denied all charges against him. His counsel was able to obtain bail, as the case was adjourned to the 26th of April.

The court also ruled that Portable be transferred to the Ilaro correctional centre while the bail terms are met.
