Ngonso soon back in Nso

By Hans Ngala

Fon of Nso arrived in Germany to collect royal objects alongside the Ngonnso. His Royal Majesty, Sehm Mbinglo II, Paramount Fon of the Nso Kingdom has touched down in the German city of Linden.

His arrival in Germany is the first concrete phase for the return of the Ngonnso, goddess of the Nso dynasty looted by the Germans over a century ago from the Nso Palace.

According to a statement issued by 31-year-old Njobati Sylvie who initiated the “Return Ngonnso” movement which has led to this success, the purpose of the Nso Fon’s visit to Germany includes among others

“To meet with different decision-making stakeholders to negotiate the return of the 27 Royal “Objects” found at the Linden Museum in Stuttgart. To see Ngonnso for the first time ever, after almost 30 years of requesting genuine dialogue and restitution, and to meet with relevant stakeholders to enhance collaboration and set the pathway for the return of other Nso objects in other institutions”.

The Fon upon his arrival will immediately proceed to the Humbodlt Forum where he will view the West Afrikan collection where the royal artifacts have been kept.
