NGO launches literacy program for minority communities

The NGO, Association for the Welfare of Women and Indigenous People, ASOWWIP, has launched an adult literacy program for Mbororo women and IDPs in Ntabang Bamenda III Northwest Region, CNA has learned.

The Adult literacy program launched is an inclusive program aimed at fostering Education in this community. Some 60 Mbororo and non-Mbororo women have enrolled in this program which is aimed to enhance peaceful coexistence, women’s active participation in decision making, increase communication skills, and self-development.


The Association for the Welfare of Women and Indigenous People is an organization that advocates for the rights of indigenous women and the empowerment of women and girls in Mbororo communities.

The current armed conflict in the two Anglophone regions has caused untold suffering to the minority population who have been caught between the belligerents.
