New school year: Presidential guards donate to children of deceased colleagues
Over 600 orphans of some fallen military and civilian personnel of the presidential guard were on Friday August 25, 2023, promised the nation’s comfort and support as they prepared to resume school this academic year.
The promise was made at the command post of the presidential guard in Obili, Yaoundé by Colonel Jean Charles Beko’o Abondo as he presided over a ceremony to officially handover support to some 626 children of some uniform men who passed away while defending the territorial integrity of the nation.
The orphans received school needs such as books, pens, bags and other materials including financial support from the Colonel who noted that this initiative is from the Head of state, commander of the armed forces and falls in line with the state’s objective to preserve children’s fundamental rights to education.
“These children will never be left alone in this difficult moment in their lives most especially as schools resume in the days ahead” said the Colonel.
