New Bogo Lamido tasked to encourage education over early marriage

The new Lamido of Bogo in the Far North region of Cameroon, Yerima Bello Hamadou has been challenged by the elites to fight for the education of young girls who are usually sent into early marriages. Many parents in Bogo and other localities in Northern Cameroon are known for placing higher value on marriage as compared to education and so most the girls end up getting into early marriages.

“We wish that the new Lamido encourages the education of the girl child and sensitize the population on the necessity of educating their girls. I am confident this Lamido will be the role model for the Bogo youth because he knows how to handle them” an elite said.

The Lamido is also expected to make Bogo vibrant again the socio-economic and political aspects.
