NCC sanctions The Post Newspaper, Publisher
The National Communication Council has slammed the Post Newspaper and its publisher one (1) month sanction each.
This NCC sanction comes after the governor of the South West region suspended the publication and distribution of the post newspaper in the region.
The Post Newspaper on 11 September accidentally released a copy with a major headline on its front page 66% of Cameroonians want a military coup. The Newspaper said it was an employee who did so without the validation of the Editorial board.
But their publication the next day carried a different headline.
It is not certain whose sanctions supersedes the other. The President of the Republic gave powers to the NCC to sanction and advice the media.
Observers see the Governor’s sanction as an attack on the press that brings back memories of press censorship before the liberalisation of the media.
