National Day Celebrations: Unity sports walk observed in Baf’ssam prelude to May 20

A vibrant unity sports walk took place in Bafoussam, the capital of the West Region, in anticipation of the 53rd National Day celebrations. The event, which aimed to promote unity, peace, and national cohesion,was presided by the Governor of the West Region, Awa Fonka Augustine.

The sports walk, assembled residents, community leaders, clergymen and government officials, at the Bafoussam ceremonial grandstand, is a symbol of the country’s commitment to unity and solidarity, the organizers said. Participants marched through the streets of Bafoussam, carrying peace plants, national flags, and banners, and chanting songs that promote peace, unity, and national pride.

Governor Awa Fonka Augustine, emphasized the importance of national unity and encouraged participants to embody the values of peace, tolerance, and solidarity. He noted that the sports walk is a significant event that showcases the region’s rich cultural heritage and reinforces the bonds that unite Cameroonians.

The unity sports walk is a fitting tribute to the country’s 53rd National Day celebrations and serves as a reminder of the power of unity and solidarity in building a strong and prosperous nation.

The Unity sportwalk ended with an ecumenical service to pray for the return of peace in Cameroon.
