National Assembly: Works at new site 60% completed- Deputy Speaker
The Speaker, Hon, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril, led a Prime Ministerial delegation on a guided tour around the new site to host members of the lower house of parliament.
The 3rd and 4th floors of the lower house of parliament were ravaged by wild flames in November 2017.
The 400-500 seat capacity hemicycle was visited on July 4, 2022, by Prime Minister, Joseph Dion Ngute and the president of the national assembly.
The Deputy Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament, who is also chairman of the committee, Hon. Datouo Theodore said works at the new sitcan be evaluated at 60%. The construction project which began in December 2019 will see the expansion of the Glass House with a 400-500 seat capacity, a 2000m2 parliamentary archive, a 15-storey building for offices, and more.
The new Glass House, which is the appellation of the building hosting Cameroon’s Parliament, is worth 54.5 billion FCFA and should be completed by May 2024.
