MP promises to revive crumbling CCAST Bambili facilities
The member of parliament (MP) for Mezam North, Honorable Agho Oliver has made available some funds aimed at purchasing four scientific boards and has promised to purchase benches for empty classrooms in Cameroon College of Science and Technology, CCAST, Bambili. The promise was made on November 8 during his visit to the school campus while the principal of the secondary school, Formukum Christopher presented the deplorable state of the school.
The Geology lab which was created in 1972 is worn out and needs to be reconstructed as well as the physics laboratory.
Out of a total of 150 students, 25 of them cannot make it to the lab at the same time because of poor facilities.
Tita Mbong is a student of this institution and she says an urgent measure to rebuild this institution should be adopted:
“Those behind do not see what the teacher writes on the board because it is not clear enough.”
Due to insufficient benches, some students of the second cycle remain standing during classes. As revealed by the Principal, the present situation of the school is caused by the prolonged crisis in this part of the nation which has led to some buildings of the institution being burnt down.
Displeased with the current situation of the institution, Honorable Agho Oliver promised to set up a scholarship scheme which will encourage the students to secure a better tertiary education.
CCAST Bambili was created in 1962 and has produced many great intellectuals in Cameroon, some of which are the current Minister of Secondary Education, Nalova Lyonga, the Minister Delegate at the Ministry of External Relation, Felix Mbayu and the Deputy Secretary General at the Presidency, Elong Paul Che, among many others.
