MP Nourane Foster accuses France 24 reporter of sabotage after collecting money, other journalists fire back

The dust is yet to settle on the ban imposed by the Minister of Public Health, on the drinkable bleaching liquid sold by the Nourishka Comestic company, owned by Cameroonian member of Parliament, Hon. Nourane Foster.

The ban came as a result of a report broadcast on French channel, France 24.

In a press release on Friday August 12, 2022, the MP said she was astonished that the reporter, Tony Michel Menga, collected FCFA 50, 000 for an advert but still went ahead to sabotage her products.

Hon. Nourane said the sum was meant for an advert on France 24 and not sabotage. She urged the media to replace Mr Menga in Cameroon because according to her, “Cameroon has better journalists than him”.

Speaking in Tongues?

When Health Minister banned the sales and commercialisation of the said liquid, the Honorable Member of Parliament and businesswoman accepted her fate and even announced that her company will be closed down. She accepted that the drinkable bleaching liquid was had not been validated by the competent department at the Ministry of Public health. So why accuse a Journalist of sabotage when she had written that her institution was at fault?

Other Journalists have reacted in bitter tones, Paul Joel Kamtchang said they are ready to support Menga should he drag the MP to court for defamation.

A former journalist’s union president, NKWEBO said even if it was an advert, you cannot pay such a small amount of money for an advert in an international media like France 24.

While Annie Payep, posited that even if a journalist is given pediem, he judges his journalistic conscience before reporting.
