Moderator Fonki Samuel bids Council of Protestant Churches farewell

By Nchendzengang Tatah

Days at the helm of the Council of Protestant Churches in Cameroon (CEPCA) are over for the Rt Rev. Dr Fonki Samuel Forba.

Moderator Fonki Samuel is also outgoing as the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon’s leader at the end of a three-year mandate at the council.

The prelate in his homily at the end of the protestant week, regretted that the protestant family had become divided due to infighting. He lamented that this vice had cost the church’s prophetic voice in saving and healing the nation.

Using the PCC bible reading plan, he anchored his exhortation on Romans chapter 2. In which Paul rebuked the believers over self-righteousness and hypocrisy.

Rt. Rev Dr. Fonki Samuel presided over the service on October 27, 2024, with other heads of protestant churches at PC Bastos – Yaounde where he was inducted. He said, “I have returned to say thank you, and goodbye”.

“Dear protestants, how can we preach peace in our nation when we are not in peace in our various churches? When pastors in our various protestant churches hate each other with passion…” PCC’s Moderator added.

Moderator Fonki is succeeded at CEPCA by the Rev Solomon Amadina, who was elected that weekend during their conclave, to oversee the twelve-member council. He also will hand over on December 20, to newly elected officials of the PCC.
