Minister Bello Bouba tasks Cameroonians to make Cameroon memorable touristic destination
Tourism in Cameroon is said to be a growing but relatively minor industry. The Cameroon government has described the country as “Africa in miniature”, promoting its diversity of climate, culture and geography.
The Minister of State, Minister of Tourism and Leisure, Bello Bouba Maigari, has therefore called on Cameroonians to make the country and memorable touristic destination.
He was speaking in Yaounde during the ceremony to commemorate the World Tourism Day on September 24, 2023.
The day was celebrated under the theme, “Tourism and green investments,”.
According to Minister Bello Bouba, the tourism sector is threatened by the adverse effects of climate change. He expresses on the need for all to join efforts to curb the damages caused by such climate-oriented barriers to ensure that Cameroon remains a great touristic destination.
The Secretary General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization, Mr Zurab Pololikashvili, stated that “Global tourism is a track to return to pre-pandemic levels by the end of the year. By investing in people and projects that make a difference, we can deliver on the sector’s potential to drive growth and opportunity for all,”.
