MINDEF Recommends Review of MSF Presence in Cameroon Conflict Regions
The idea comes days after an injured Ambazonian separatist fighter was allegedly found in the vehicle of Doctors Without Borders, DWB-MSF, in Tinto, South West region.
A communique from MINDEF says the fighter was wounded in a battle but was being taken away for treatment by a team from the DWB.
“For a final return to peace, it is high time we clearly address the need for the presence of this NGO in the regions experiencing security crisis in Cameroon,” the Ministry of Defense’s Communication Director, Captain Cyrille Atonfack said in a release.
Mbu Princely Tabe, also known as “general Moving Star” of a separatist group was taken-off from the DWB vehicle. They were heading to the Manyemen Presbetarian medical Institution.
The Defense Ministry says that the actions of DWB were clandestine as they allegedly were exfiltrating and covering Ambazonia forces, “despite repeated warnings from Cameroonian authorities” Atonfack said.

In the North West region, the DWB has been banned and all attempts to be reinstated have not yielded fruits. The fate of the NGO in the South West region remains unknown.
