At least one person was killed and our cars set on fire 16, Buea, by Ambazonia Separatist fighters who identified themselves in a video as Ambazonia State Army, ASA. This group is loyal to US US-based, Samuel Ikome Sako’s Interim Government. The said video of vehicles being burnt was labelled “ASA reinforcing ghost town.”
One of the separatist groups that operates in Fako Division is known as Fako Mountain Lions. It is believed that the group carried out the attack.
CNA gathered from multiple sources that around past 7PM on Monday night, some separatists stormed the streets of Mile 16, disguised as passengers. The victim who died, popualrly known as Samankwe had parked his car from where he just refilled his tank. But he did not go home, he briefly waited to discuss with two friends who were seated at the back.
“When the two men saw some strange looking men pretending to request for a ride along the road, they skipped out on their heels, but it was too late for Samakwe who was at the driver’s seat. That is how he was shot and his car set on fire,” someone with knowledge of the incident narrated to CNA.
Other cars were stopped but the drivers succeeded to escape. The damage was enormous, four cars set on fire and one person dead.
“Before security forces could arrive Mile 16, the separatists had escaped,” a source said adding that he could hear gunshots coming two directions, sugesting that it was the arrival of security forces.
The debris of four burnt taxis were seen Tuesday morning around the area of the incident, while the remains of Samankwe were packed in a bag for the mutuary.
