Mfoundi SDO sounds warning to bikers plying unauthorized zones

The usage of commercial motorbikes in Cameroon has been on the rise in recent years. They are said to be at the center of disorder in the cities, ranging from markets, trespassing on roads, disrespect for the highway code, and noise pollution.
In 2019, some zones in Yaounde were restricted from motorbike circulation, but some bikers still move about these areas freely, authorities have said. This hampers the fight against urban disorder despite sensitization efforts from local authorities.
The Senior Divisional Officer of Mfoundi, SDO, Emmanuel Mariel Djikdent, in the center region, has said his office shall henceforth use aggressive methods by ordering the seizure of moto-bikes plying the unauthorized zones.
He further warned that defaulters will have themselves to blame, urging the population to avoid requesting for the services of moto-bike riders around forbidden areas.
“From now, if we catch you, a passenger of a moto-bike rider plying these unauthorized areas, you will be in trouble,” the SDO stated.
