Meme Division: Inspectors meet to harmonize recommended teaching strategy

By Shanta Sih

Teachers and School Inspectors from Mbonge and Konye subdivisions have ended just ended a two-day training meeting aimed at discussing strategies and best practices of the academic year in their respective schools.

The meeting was also to familiarise the new teaching strategy book sent by the government. This book stresses more on skills development and prioritizes practical over theory.

“Things are getting much better compared to 2018 and 2019 when the Anglophone crisis started, at least from 2020 to 2022, students and pupils can at least go to school, and slowly things will get better,” an Inspector from the Mbonge said.

Sources said all teachers from these subdivisions were compelled to attend this two-day training and are expected to start a new teaching strategy this week.

”At first, teachers taught using more objectives, but now, per the book from the government, teachers are expected to be more practical and skillful in teaching. They should make sure they do their jobs well so we don’t face difficulties when the time comes where we the Inspectors have to test the knowledge of the students” a primary school Inspector from Konye told reporters.

Mbonge and Konye are one of the worst-hit subdivisions in the ongoing armed conflict in the Anglophone regions. But the teachers are hopeful that the belligerents will see the need for quality education over war.
