Members of family arrested for alleged cannabis trafficking
Three members of the same family in Bafia, Mbam and Inoubou division of the Centre region allegedly specialized in the sale of cannabis have been arrested by gendarmes.
This was during an operation initiated by Absolom Monono Woloa, Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) for the Mbam and Inoubou division aimed at dismantling this criminal network in his area of jurisdiction.
The gendarmes reportedly seized a large quantity of cannabis in their possession and the suspects were whisked to the gendarmerie brigade for further interrogation.
“Our primary objective is to clean Bafia and other localities in the Mbam and Inoubou from these men who sell cannabis to the population and promote its consumption. These individuals are committing a serious offence by destroying young children. Our society needs morally upright citizens and not drug dealers and consumers” Absolom Monono Woloa told reporters.
The same operation also resulted in the arrest of several vendors of contraband pharmaceutical products. Security forces proceeded with seizure of these expired and illicit pharmaceutical medicines sold mostly at roadsides.
The SDO and Bafia Gendarmerie Brigade Commander discouraged the population of Bafia in particular and Mbam and Inoubou Division in general from associating with criminal activities.
