Mbouda: Population trained on grafting and treatment of avocado trees

Mbouda is known across the country as one of the best localities for avocado production. Unfortunately due to persistent deforestation, this production has been greatly diminished.

It is in an effort to boost production of the avacoda that the youth wing of the ruling CPDM party of the Bamboutos II section have organized a workshop. Under the patronage of Tsangue Giselle, Mayor of Babadjou and with the supervision of Graine De Vie which is a non-governmental organization, they aimed at training parents and youth on techniques of grafting and treating existing trees and also planting new avocado trees.

This training workshop that was held on Wednesday July 20th at the conference hall of the council of Babadjou drilled participants on techniques of sustainability. It is expected that in the coming months, an oil transformation plant will be constructed in Bafounda where avocados will be the main raw material.
