Mbouda: crime waves on the rise

Inhabitants of Mbouda, Chief town of the Bamboutos division say armed robbery is on the rise in the locality.

Men of the underworld in the neighborhoods Montchio II, Bafang quarter, marche mondial and other parts of Mbouda have adopted a new robbery strategy which consists of dropping letters at the door steps of their targets accompanied by a galon of fuel, asking for money to be paid through well defined channels. In most of the letters, the robbers threaten to set ablaze the houses of their preys if the amount of money they ask for is not paid.

This strategy is creating a lot of panic among inhabitants in the town.
Reacting to this, the Senior Divisional Officer for Bamboutos François Franquelin Etapa has reassured the population of an immediate response plan that will be put in place to counter these criminal acts. He also has called on the population to remain calm and collaborate with the administration.
