Douala: Woman beaten for denouncing rape

The woman, who sells in a market in Douala, was violated by her in-laws after denouncing the rape of her 6-year- old son.

During the week of August 12-14 2022, the woman who usually left her son in the care of her 33-year-old sister in-law returned home to find both of them in bed.

In shock, the mother says she screamed and took her son out of the room. The little boy confessed it is not the first time his aunt had been using him to satisfy her sexual urges. First medical results say the boy is HIV negative and safe from STDs.

The mother of the boy upon returning from the hospital, insisted that her sister in-law who is HIV/AIDS positive should leave their house. A request rejected by her husband, who has insisted that his sister remains home. All efforts to make her voice heard led to physical violence as she was severely beaten by her husband and the accused sister in-law.

According to statistics, 25% of rape cases occur within families at varous ages.
