Mbanga security forces storm homes, seize cannabis
Several drug traffickers have been arrested and kept behind bars by security officials in Mbanga in the Moungo division of the Littoral region.
This is as a result of an operation launched to eradicate the the sale and consumption of illicit drugs in Mbanga sub-division . A search in several neighbourhoods resulted in the discovery and seizure of stocks of cannabis in the homes of several dealers. Money generated from the sale of the cannabis was also confiscated by the security elements.
According to Nkefor Christian Temboh, Divisional Officer of Mbanga sub-division, the operation launched days ago will not stop anytime soon:
“We launched this operation days back with the aim of putting an end to the illegal activity that has been gaining grounds here in Mbanga. The dealers and consumers are without any doubts responsible for most of the crimes committed here. Most people are irresponsible because of consumption of cannabis and other narcotics. We will continue this door to door and neighbourhood to neighbourhood operation untill we are sure the network has been paralyzed.”
According to the DO, without denunciation from locals, the operation would not have been a success. He added that those apprehended will have to be interrogated to reveal the names and whereabouts of their accomplices.
The D.O thanked the population for their support. He however implored them not to stop, but rather continue collaborating with the security forces who are ready at all times to go after the drug traffickers.
