Maroua hosts 20th international cycling tour

The 2024 edition of the Cameroon International Cycling Tour kicked off in Maroua on Friday, May 31, with nine teams from eight countries participating.

The opening which was presided at by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, unfolded with a first-place finish for Cameroonian cyclist, Kamzong Abessolo. The SNH velo club captain completed the first lap in 3 hours 13 seconds. “It is my second victory in Maroua and my first in the Cameroon Cycling Tour. It’s been 12 years… I’m very satisfied” Abessolo said.

The competition has cyclists from Algeria, Burkina Faso, Senegal, and Morocco, as well as Holland and France from Europe.

The 20th edition of the event will run from May 31 to June 9 2024. 26-year-old El Kouraji Mohcine from Morocco won the previous edition.
