Marc Vivien Foe, 19 years counting

Tragedy struck the world of football this day June 26, 2003.

After 75 minutes of the FIFA Confederations Cup semi-final against Colombia at the Stade Gerland in Lyon France, Cameroon’s number 17, Marc Vivien Foe collapsed on the field and died some minutes later after all efforts to revive his heart by medics were rendered futile.

Today, June 26 2022 is the 19th anniversary of this shocking moment in football. Foe was 28 years old but had represented a number of popular clubs, starting with Canon Yaounde at home, then moving to Europe played for Lens and Lyon in France, and West Ham United and Manchester City in England.
