Man seeks military, police help after visa agent swindles millions

A Cameroonian man is seeking justice and wants the immediate arrest of an Abuja-based visa agent, Thomas Ngang. Between January and February 2023, the Cameroonian-born, Nigerian-based, allegedly collected the sum of more than FCFA 10 million from the victim, Mbokwang Abel Tita, to facilitate the visa process of the latter’s junior brother from Bahrain to Bolivia ( CNA obtained some proof of payment allegedly sent to Thomas Ngang, we also obtained the fake visa, but could not independently verify)

After collecting this sum of money, in a series of Mobile Money transfers, Thomas Ngang issued a fake bank statement, a fake flight ticket, and even collected visa fees twice, Mbokwang lamented.

“I paid the visa double plus the bank statement he has which was fake…And he knows and prompted me to pay for a flight of 2 million. Only to wait on the day of travel he told me something was supposed to come out called ‘ok to board’ which normally accompanies the visa.” Mbokwang narrated.

His junior brother could not travel and they could not get a refund despite efforts for a settlement, Mbokwang said.

Thomas Ngang, accused of producing fake visas and travel documents

“I wanted him to either do an amicable settlement or promise to do another visa but he has proven not to be trustworthy.”

On November 21, 2023, the victim decided to seek justice by bringing up the case at the National Gendarmerie, soliciting help in arresting the visa agent. The Gendarmerie is yet to react to the case, CNA understands cases under investigation are hardly subjected to comments.

In the line of investigation, CNA was told that the victim’s brother introduced him to the run-away visa agent. Mbokwang Abel said his brother was acting based on information from another friend who recommended him to the visa agent, “He is my brother even the Gendarmes wanted to arrest him first I told them this man is innocent in the whole game the only problem I have with him is that he introduced me to someone he does not know just because a friend of his in the US confirm to him that this guy is a visa agent he just took me and introduced him to me.” he said in an interview.

Mr Mbokwang said he has reached out to Interpol to arrest Thomas Ngang anywhere they find him, “as most of his activities are in Nigeria,” he said.

While the victim said he is ready to pay anyone who gives credible information that can lead to the arrest of Thomas Ngang, we reached out to the accused to get his part of the story but he is yet to respond to our questions.
