Major National Dialogue: Work still huge-PM

The Prime Minister, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute has stated that despite the much progress made so far in the implementations of the recommendations of the National Dialogue, much still needs to be done as far as the economic impact on the population is concerned.
He was speaking to members of the committee charged with the follow-up of the implementations of recommendations of the Major National Dialogue during their fifth session on August 11, 2023 in Buea.
“While there is laudable progress in the attainment of this, economic recovery and the return of normalcy, it is evident that there is still much left to be done. The population needs to feel the impact of all the government is doing and will continue to undertake,”. PM Dion Ngute said.
According to him, the Head of State President Paul Biya has made a couple of decrees and implemented many recommendations of the Major National Dialogue.
“Basic infrastructures are being rehabilitated, special funding was allocated in the 2023 finance law for the construction and development process. The funds were increased following the recent amendment of the said law signed by the Head of State. Major infrastructures such as the Limbe Deep Sea Port are ongoing, a lot of work has been done there,”.
He therefore recommended that; “We therefore have to continue in our efforts towards a complete return to normalcy by maintaining our focus and believing on the commitments, to fulfill the aspirations of our people,”.
The secretary general of the committee, Felix Mbayu, elaborated on what has been done in terms of infrastructural development, the rate of employment, agricultural productivity and many others.
Stakeholders of the follow-up committee examined the difficulties which still exists in the two crisis hit regions, and made contributions of the way forward.
