Macron visits Cameroon: Bride prepares for groom’s arrival

By Wilson Musa

Yaounde has made Cameroonians understand that Macron’s visit to Cameroon is the most important thing that can actually happen this July.

The level of preparation in different sectors can only be likened to an African traditional marriage where the bride’s family prepares food, clean the house, and buy drinks for their “August guests”, the groom’s family. It is always important for the groom’s family to meet a clean environment and enjoy good food.

That is what Yaounde has made Cameroonians understand. It is an aberration that companies will be shut down because Macron will visit Cameroon. The Director of the Telecommunication Regulatory Agency said in a recent release that all employees should work from home until July 27, 2022, after Macron’s departure.

That’s not all, the City Mayor of Yaounde called on city dwellers to make sure that they abandon their daily hustles to line up on the streets of Yaounde to receive President Emmanuel Macron.

Several houses and structures along the road have been destroyed due to Mr. Macron’s visit.

The ruling CPDM party in Mfoundi Division has said it will disburse the sum of more than FCFA 10 million to party members from the seven subdivisions to take part in activities aimed at welcoming the French President.

Understanding the FEBISTE banner

Discussions on succession and the armed conflict in Southern Cameroon could be top on the agenda. But why discuss succession with a foreigner? It is believed that France is the architect of key decisions makings that will in one way or the other affect French interests. If not, why would the state accept that young men carry a banner bearing the face of Paul Biya’s son, Frank Emmanuel Biya wishing Macron is warm welcome?

The Frankiste movement has been existing in Cameroon for the past two years and as things may be, the supporters of Frank Biya have the greenlight to organize any event than registered political parties.

Everyone is positioning himself to have a good name in the books of Emmanuel Macron. “But Cameroon is not a colony under France neither is Cameroon controlled by France – Cameroon is a sovereign state that can tale its decisions on its own” This is the statement many compatriots make when they talk about efforts to mediate in Cameroon’s armed conflicts but how sovereign is the country in the face of the 7th french President to visit Cameroon?

Well, the bride is ready to entertain the groom until he leaves and he must have a good impression to send more money to the bride’s family, if not their only source of livelihood maybe be stripped.

Yes, give money for more drinks- after all french company, Les Brasseries du Cameroun just acquired Guinness Cameroon and shall henceforth control 90% of production in Cameroon. Make them drink and forget about their emancipation and then forget about their future.
