Lock Down: Kumbo Town Remains Divided Over Separatist Action

The lockdown is in response to the arrest of 7 family members in Ngokentunjia

Controversy has surfaced in Kumbo, the second-largest town in the North West Region, after separatist fighters led by “Gen. The Only Bro” blocked the road between Bamenda and Kumbo and declared an indefinite lockdown in Ngokentunjia. “Gen the Only Bro” through this move is responding to the SDO of Ngokentunjia’s weird and embarrassing decision of arresting family members of another Separatist after they pulled a Gendarme Officer from a public transport vehicle and later executed him.

Responding to the broad lockdown that is threatening to extend to Bui Division, Gen. Mad Dog and Gen. Vulture of Kumbo East have sternly refused and rejected the lockdown as being too punitive and hard on a population that has suffered so much from similar senseless lockdowns. The two Separatist Fighters have condemned in strong words the strange detention of the family members of their colleagues and demanded their immediate release.

While the Bui Warriors in the West of Kumbo respected the lockdown and closed the Mbveh Market and Tobin neighborhoods for the past 4 days, Kumbo West, the center of the town, and all shops have remained vibrant and operational while respecting the Monday Ghost Town.

Gen. Mad Dog and Gen. Vulture of the Bui Unity Warriors made a statement that “we cannot be fighting to liberate a people and inflicting pain on them”. He said that this is the beans and potatoes harvest season, and many farmers needed to reach their farms using bikes and other means of transport. He also added that anyone who respects the lockdown in Kumbo East by locking his business premises shall not open again.
