Littoral: two suspected rapists arrested for attempted rape on minors
Two men aged 44 and 21 will be appearing before judges to answer to accusations of attempted rape on two girls, 7 and 4 years of age.
The two men were apprehended by elements of the National Gendarmerie in Dibombari in the Moungo Division of the Littoral region in the process of trying to sexually abuse the toddlers who were screaming at the top of their lungs.
Interrogated, the 44-year-old man confessed to the Gendarmes a witch doctor had told him to rape a 7-year-old girl so that he would be protected from witchcraft and misfortune wich he believes are hunting him. The sorcerer also assured the 44-year-old man that he would have abundant wealth after carrying out the act:
“I was taken to this witch doctor by my mother who claimed he is spiritually powerful. The witch doctor said everything was not moving for me and unless I fulfilled a condition I would not be freed from witchcraft and misfortune,” he explained.
He further told the forces of law and order he had accepted fulfilling the condition but did not succeed in doing it:
“Although the sorcerer urged me to do it, I did not succeed. Rather I have fallen in the dragnets of gendarmes. I honestly regret accepting my mother’s advice and listening to the witch doctor. I will never try this again.”
