Lifeless body of 66 year-old woman retrieved from pit
Elements of the firefighting brigade have retrieve the lifeless body of Djeukem Jeanne from a pit. This happened on June 2nd in the village of Batcham, Bamboutos Division of the West region of Cameroon.
According to locals, the 66 year-old woman was in search of herbs for her treatment when she accidentally stepped on planks which sent her diving into the abandoned pit. The borehole ad been abandoned for about 20 years and planks had been used to cover it up for security reasons. Unfortunately with the passing of time, the planks had rotted off causing the woman to fall to her death.
Djeukem Jeanne’s body was discovered by some locals who raised alarm and also alerted the army rescue unit. Their intervention led to the removal of her remains before being deposited in the mortuary.
